what's on offer and where

Various purchase and rental land for small-holding farming near Union Grove, North Carolina. We are tucked under the Brushy Mountains right where the Appalachian Mountains start: 25 minutes to Wilkesboro and/or Statesville, 40 minutes to Boone, 40 minutes to Winston-Salem, 1 hour to Charlotte, 2 hours to Asheville, 1 hour to Virginia border, 2 hours to Blacksburg, VA. We weather the weather very well as we are protected in a cove (hollow/holler) with some elevation in topography on this land.  Formal agreements only.

FARMING IS better in COMMUNITY

The myth of the lone farmer is just that, a myth.
A farmer can be a land steward and participate in a community of farmers and a community that supports these enterprises.
That is why we ran We Are All Farmers Permaculture Institute and trainings for five years. We envision Pockerchicory Agrihood as a community for farmers who can engage with each other on their own terms and assist each other as needed, but under no obligation. Yes, we are curating the agrihood. For our rentals and self-financing, we are preferencing farmers, new farmers, and are willing to work with you.

Why this? why now?

We are branching out into other demands related to sustainable agriculture, which command a lot of our time. We also have put in our time as farmers, and see right now as a time to prove the community needs and sustainability of small-holding farmers. We don't plan to get "down in the weeds" on how community might develop--we see that evolving "organically" amongst the participating farmers themselves.
You can see our use of the property over time also at Pockerchicory Farms and We Are All Farmers on FB.
